THE STRIKE IS SUSPENDED

After talks between government representatives and the press publishers' commission NEWSPAPERS RETURN From tomorrow the distributors will come to work and the newspapers will be on sale. This compromise was reached yesterday with the directors of Finance and Telecom, the line ministries. A full return to normality required another two days' delay. Press distributors say that the government has only partially accepted their demands for lower postal rates, while in a large number of administrative links, where the Ministry of Finance plays a key role, VAT payments are still on hold. This complete lack of liquidity threatens the newspapers with bankruptcy and places an unbearable financial burden on all editorial offices. According to them, in the meeting with the publishers the government promised another meeting on Tuesday, which also led to the suspension of the strike and the return of newspapers to the market. These financial operations will be covered by state funds. [continues on page 3]
